PERSONALITY

FIRST MEETINGS
A polite and curious soul who is driven to learn more about others, they often seek ways to be agreeable even to their own detriment. There is an earnest desire to make connections and meaningful memories, to be a worthy and dependable source of aid.

ENEMIES
If Tristan does not understand the ire directed toward them, they will continuously strive to understand; surely there can be a bridge built and hostilities avoided. If they can avoid violence, they will try every road, but they will not idle if those they've decided to protect are in danger.

ESTABLISHED ACQUAINTANCES
Ever mindful of others' comfort, Tristan will mirror the favorable emotions of those around them or try to emulate some state that others find favorable. Ever hungry for connection, their goal is to always be a balm or supportive person to rely on or confide in.
Misunderstanding or hurt feelings will be met with genuine contrition and almost desperate efforts to make amends in many cases.

FRIENDS
They will die for their perceived friends. Additionally, they will allow themselves to show some of their more genuine, negative emotions if they feel safe enough to express them. They trust their friends to be able to interpret those feelings for them.

ROMANTIC PROSPECTS
No favor is too big, no suffering too great for someone so important and adored. Maybe they need to learn restraint....

BACKGROUND

Tristan is not their true name. Maybe.

They are one of the Reclaimed - people who were lost to penumbral disease and turned to mindless shadow. Upon recovery, they found no memory of their past, and were taken in by working-class people of Traint.

The name Tristan was given to them by a child. Tristan is an infamous and tragic hero's story, and seemingly one that is doomed to repeat...

When they discovered their inherent light powers, they set it to work with the mine workers...at least up until xenophobia took hold and they and other elves were ousted from the city. From there, Tristan wandered, up until receiving a fateful call for aid...

Since then, Tristan's lived a more harrowing life in a month than they must've had in their forgotten memories. They've discovered an innate ability to cure the very penumbral disease they were stricken with and have committed to curing the world of a disease of stagnation that's frozen the sun in place and locked the heavens from reach. Tall order, but they themself are a near empty glass, right?

ABILITIES

Tristan is built as a 5e Light Cleric. They can cast from the Cleric Spell List, a handful per day, which can be swapped in and out every long rest. Their favored spells are light-based: Light (natch), Faerie Fire, Daylight, etc.

They have a special aversion to darkness/dark corrosion; there is a faint glowing from their veins that thrums in time with their heartbeat. Their healing ability gives them extra potency against evil-tinged maladies - things that warp or manipulate a person's identity/form, like penumbral, but could be played with in other instances if the storytelling works for it.
